My grandma has always been a passing figure in my life. I maybe saw her once a year throughout my childhood, but I was always drawn to her way of living. She lives in a small town in Idaho with a population of 200. She is 2,600 miles away from anyone in our family. After 20 years of just barely scratching the surface of who she was, I decided to visit her for a week to find out why she left my family. These are 11 images I made with her as we finally learned about each other for the first time.
